Patchwork Thank You Cards

When I saw the Patchwork Coverplate Die I was immediately reminded of my Grandma Toots and her hand made quilts. She would cut out and hand stitch every square inch of it. No fancy sewing machines for her!

PATCHWORK QUILT THANK YOU CARDS

I used the Patchwork Coverplate Die to cut 6 different pieces of paper from the Woodland Paper Pad and while I stopped at making 3 cards, I had enough pieces to create quite a few more. And while it was a labor of love assembling the pieces, I took the time to enjoy the process and reminisce about my Grandma.I recommend using the die as a template to help reassemble the various pieces and to lay out the position of each pattern. Another tip for assembly is to adhere the die cuts to a pieces of white cardstock to help hold them together.

Once I had the quilt assembled and adhered to the white cardstock. I then lightly rubbed over them with a Ranger Sanding Disk (which is just light grit sandpaper) to give it a slightly worn distressed effect.

The leaves are die cut from several colors of paper from the Boho Paper Pad and sanded them as well. I adhered them together and then used 1mm double sided foam adhesive to adhere them to the card front. However before doing that, I added a length of gold thread behind them as another nod to my Grandma's hand stitching.

The frame was created using 2 of the Nested Rectangle Dies. I centered them to each other and used Mint Tape to hold them together and then die cut the frames using the Boho Paper Pad. I also sanded these to continue with the distressed effect.

To finish off each card, I added a stamped sentiment from the Thanks Friend Stamp Set. I stamped them using Verasfine Clair Ink in Twilight and then die cut them using the coordinating die set and then adhered them with 1mm double sided foam adhesive.

Tip & Tricks with Tim Holtz Distress Spritz

Hello there! If you haven't heard, Tim Holtz just added 12 more Distress Spritz colors. There are now a total of 36 colors available in the Distress Spritz line which is only half of the Distress color palette. Fingers crossed that he continues to add the remaining colors! I personally love working with them because of how they add a touch of shimmer and shine without being overbearing AND how they coordinate with the Distress palette that I know and love!

In my latest video I'm sharing some tips and tricks for using them, including how to keep them from clogging, how to unclog them and how to feel more confident spraying them. I'm also showing how to use them with stencils and die cuts to create a set of festive Christmas cards!
