Hello friends and welcome! Today I'm excited to share with you a card I created using some fabulous new products from Ranger Ink. A couple of weeks ago, they contacted me and asked if I would like to try out some of the new products they released at Creativation. Of course I said yes and I'm still quite honored they contacted me to do this.
For the project I'm sharing today, I played with some of their new Liquid Pearls and Embossing Powders. I'll be honest, I've never used Liquid Pearls. But...I think I may have found a fun new product to play with! I love the dimension it added to my project.
To get started, I began by creating the background paper. I tapped some Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Oxide Ink onto my craft mat and then spritzed them water. I then took a piece of watercolor paper and wiped it threw the inks. I dried it with my Ranger Heat It Craft Tool and then wiped it through the ink again. I repeated this process several times until I was pleased with the look, making sure to dry it in-between each time. I then flicked some water onto the paper and dried it with a paper towel. To darken the edges, I applied Walnut Stain Distress Ink using a foam blending tool. I then trimmed this down and placed it onto a piece of patterned paper from the Tim Holtz Christmas Paper Pad from a couple of years ago.
For the butterfly embellishments, I began stamping several pieces of watercolor paper with Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous Inventor 1 Stamp Set and Entomology Stamp Set. I stamped the images using the brand new Ranger Ink Gray Tinted Embossing Pad. I love how the image is visible when you stamp as compared to most embossing inks that stamp a clear image. I then sprinkled the clock image with Steel Embossing Powder, the typewriter with Love Letters Embossing Powder and the script from the Entomology set with Bubbly Embossing Powder. I heat set each one with a heat gun.
Next, I took 3 different butterfly shapes from the Tim Holtz Flutter Framelits Dies and cut one from each piece of paper. I also die cut a body for each butterfly and embossed them with the coordinating embossing powder for that butterfly. Before I adhered the body, I hot glued on a wire antenna. I then rubbed Distress Oxide Ink over each piece to color the paper so it would coordinate with the embossing powder on that butterfly. To go with Steel I used Faded Jeans, for Love Letters I used Fired Brick and for Bubbly I used Antique Linen. I then inked the edges of each one with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Here's where I had even more fun creating this project! I took the Liquid Pearls and added dots around the edges of the butterflies. Seriously...I'm loving the shine and dimension they add! The new colors are super bright and bold, but by combining them with these more muted tones, they became toned down and worked perfectly to coordinate with the new Embossing Powders. The Liquid Pearl colors I used where Shocking, Lightning and Brilliant. Even their names are bright and bold!
Before adhering the butterflies, I die cut a piece of Bristol Paper using the Tim Holtz Skeleton Leaves. I inked it up with some Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutter Distress Ink.
To complete the card, I trimmed a phrase from the Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers and inked the edges with a little Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this bit of inspiration using the brand new Ranger Ink Embossing Powders and Liquid Pearls.
