Stamping with the Back of Your Clear Stamps + CardMaker and Impression Obsession Blog Hop

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing how to use the back side of your clear stamps for a floral watercolor card I created for the CardMaker and Impression Obsession Blog Hop. You'll find all the blog hop details below. First though, I invite you to check out this fun technique to help you stretch your stash of stamps!

1. Gather your supplies: Scrap paper, watercolor paper, clear stamp, stamping block, Distress Ink, small paint brush, water.

For this card, I'm using the Doodles Flowers stamp set by Impression Obsession. You can find a full detailed list of the supplies I used below.

2. Place your stamp backward onto your stamping block.

3. Ink your stamp and stamp it onto the scrap paper to remove some of the ink.

4. Stamp the image onto the watercolor paper.

5. Use a small paint brush and water to blend the ink and achieve a watercolor effect.

6. Allow this to dry. You can speed up the drying process with a heat gun if you are in a hurry.

7. Clean your stamp and place it right side up on your stamping block.

8. Apply ink and stamp image on top of the first image.

9. Allow this to dry.

10. Repeat this process with each flower.

Tip: I recommend doing a test stamp for each color you select. Some inks become too light when you off stamp them, so you may need a darker color to use when you stamp the actual image.

There you have it...a fun and simple way to stretch your stash of stamps!

For the sentiment, I stamped "Get Well" and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. The word "Wishes" is die cut from black Fun Foam. I love how this adds a little dimension to the card without adding a lot of bulk.

Hello all and Happy Saturday! It's been a while since I posted on Saturday, but I had time this week to play along with a few card challenges including: the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge and the Mint Owl Studio August Instagram Challenge.

For my first card, I played along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Summer Fun. I love the Happy Swimmers stamp and die set. In fact, I created another card earlier this summer using this same set. These two little swimmers are just adorable!

I used Distress Ink and a stencil to create the background. I simply applied more ink at the bottom and blended it to create the dark to light gradient. The coloring was all done using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I then popped everything up using some Therm O Web 3D Foam Squares for added dimension.

This next card using the Mint Owl Studio Outrageous Owls stamp set. I created this one to play along with Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Make For The Border.

I lined up the owls using my MISTI Precision Stamper for placement and created a cute little border with them. I heat embossed them with white embossing powder and then colored them like a Rainbow for the Mint Owl August Instagram Challenge - Rainbow. As I was coloring them, I made sure to apply the ink so it would blend from one color to the next. I used a small paint brush and water to do the blending.

Lining Up Stamps and Dies + CardMaker and Momenta Blog Hop

Hello all and welcome! Today I'm sharing how to line up your stamps and dies to create perfect die cuts for your cards. I created this trio of watercolored feather cards for the CardMaker Magazine and Momenta Blog Hop. All the fun blog hop details are listed below.

1. Die cut your shape from a piece of cardstock to create a template.

2. Position die over opening of die cut and adhere in place with a piece of washi tape or other low tack tape.

3. Adhere die in place so it can be raised up to allow you to see the die shape.

5. Stamp your image onto a piece of paper.

6. Place stamped image behind die cut opening and line up the stamp with the opening.

7. Use washi tape or other low tack tape to hold the stamped image in place.

8. Fold die over stamped image and run piece through die cutting machine.

9. Remove die cut and you are ready to color and use your perfectly stamped and die cut image.

I used the Momenta Art-C Large Feathers Stamp and Die Set to create the feathers. I stamped each image using Ranger Distress Ink in Pumice Stone and then watercolored them using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

To embellish the cards, I stamped the small words using Ranger Archival Ink in Black onto the mini kraft tags. I then tied on one of the small brass keys and attached this to the feather. I used Therm O Web Foam Squares to attach the feathers to the tag for a bit of dimension.

The large tags are awesome as they are, but I decide to add a bit more interest to them by stamping the border along the left hand side and the sentiment using my MISTI and Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.
