Hi everyone! It’s Monique on the blog today sharing my very first design team project for 17turtles Digital Cut Files! I had a hard time choosing which cut file I was going to use for my project, as I love all the cut files Juliana created! In the end I chose not one, but two cut files. For the background I used the cut file “Star Power” and for the title I used one of the words from the “Grateful Fall” cut file.
They cut file cut really beautifully as you can see.
I have to admit I was a bit worried with the large background cut file, as my cutting mat is getting old, is used a lot and is not so very sticky anymore. When that happens, sometimes the very pointy parts of a cut will then ripple instead of being cut. To avoid this from happening and to avoid my paper coming lose from the cutting mat, I have this little trick that I learned from my friend Yvonne. I place a paper back book on both sides of my Cameo, so when the cutting mat moves forwards and backwards it slides over the books and therefore stays straight instead of bending down to the table (which in some cases caused my paper to pop up from the cutting mat).
Make sure though, that your books aren’t too high! To avoid a collision!
Here are some close-ups of my page.
Because the patterned paper I used for the Star Power background cut file was double sided, I could also use the leftover stars for my layout. I just turned them upside down and I had an extra embellishment!
This was my layout for the 17turtles blog today and I hope you like it! If you hop over to my blog, Creating {Non}sense}, I’ve got another 17turtles project to share using the new Love Stamps Cut File and here’s a sneak of it.
Thank you so much for visiting the 17turtles blog today!

Monique it is a fab layout - love it - and love your tip about using the stars that you cut out and also the cutting mat - will definitely be using this tip - thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, oh wow!!! That is an amazing background and this layout is super cool and so very incredible!! Way to go, Monique - you are a true success!!!

Thank you so much.
Really fantastic
Love and best wishes

Looking fabulous! Love the stars cut file & the blues and reds you've used in here.....WHEN I get my Silly out [not often!] I do the book trick. I've discovered those spray cans of glue [repositionable] are GREAT for giving extra stick to the mats, too:) I use one that's for quilting!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip Lizzy! Thanks for sharing!!!
DeleteThis is gorgeous! LOVING that star background!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the paperback book tip! My mats get a lot of use and that very same thing happens to me!
ReplyDeleteLove the use of the die cuts - cute! Also wash your mat with soap and water - it helps to restore some of the sticky to it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip Debbie! TFS!!!
DeleteLove the cut files, awesome idea on the books, gonna have to try. I also use the cans of spray on repositionable glue.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy! Going to give it a try!
DeleteThat background is so cool! Thanks for sharing!
