Well, I have finished all of my family visits and vacations for the summer! It was a great start to the summer getting to see a lot of my family and to go on vacation. But, now it's back to the real world and work. I must say though, that it will be good to get back into a routine of some sort. We still have lots planned for the summer, but not as much traveling.
Today, I'm sharing a Sweet 16 birthday card that I created for a friend of mine. This sweet lady contacted me recently asking me to create a card for her niece who was turning 16. I don't normally create cards to sell, but this was an exception that I was happy help out with. It was almost like it was meant to be, because I had just received the new Birthday Wishes collection from Pebbles. See what I mean? It was perfect timing!!!
I began by creating a Sweet 16 cut file to use with my Silhouette Cameo. The card base is from the Pebbles Birthday Wishes Cardmaking Paper Pad. Next, I created a vellum sequin shaker pocket (TUTORIAL BELOW) and then added the cupcake die cut. Yesterday I shared a Celebrate Birthday Card that also had a vellum sequin shaker pocket. I really think I could have made a ton of these. It was so much fun making the sequin pockets and shaking them! And if you are looking for some Happy Birthday digital cut files, make sure you check out my Happy Birthday FREE Digital Cut File too.
Oh and I also added a little glitter glue to the cherry on top!
TUTORIAL | VELLUM SEQUIN SHAKER POCKET TUTORIAL
Begin by cutting two pieces of vellum to 3.75" x 5". Use your sewing machine to stitch around three of the edges. Make sure to leave one side open or you won't be able to have fun with the sequins!
Leave a long loose thread on each side of the pocket. You will use this later to help close the pocket.
Next, fill the pocket with sequins. Make sure you don't add to many sequins. I know it's tempting, but more is not necessarily better in this case! You want the pocket to lay flat with the sequins inside, even when you turn it and the sequins move around.
After finish having fun adding the sequins, return to your sewing machine and stitch the open edge closed. Take the loose threads and tie them into a knot and trim the excess close to the tied knot. This will help secure the stitching. Now your pocket is complete and ready to be added to your project.
