Today, I'm sharing a scrapbook page using the new Elle's Studio Shine collection. This collection has been perfect for scrapping some of my photos from our vacation to Mazatlan, Mexico last year. I started out doing traditional scrapbook pages with some of the the photos, but I quickly realized that it would take me forever to get them all scrapped that way. That is when the idea of doing them in a Pocket or Project Life style came to mind. I had printed most of the photos at 4x6 so I thought this might work perfectly for fitting a lot of them on one page. The problem with the pockets though was that I didn't have the right combination of pockets to fit the photos at the size I had printed them and I didn't want to reprint them and waste the money. What's a scrapper to do???
My solution... I decided to create a pocket style but without the pockets. To achieve this look, I started with a piece of white cardstock as the base. I then took a mix of Elle's Studio journaling cards and die cuts and laid them out with the photos that I wanted to use. I moved them around until I came up with a combination that worked. I then trimmed the photos as needed to fit the space and I left a 0.25" border around the outside edge and between the elements on the page to give it that "pocket style" look.
The next step was to embellish the "pockets" by adding more die cuts, wood veneers, stamps and of course my journaling. Now my "pocket style" pages were complete and I had scrapped 7 photos on a 2 page layout!
