4th of July Fun Scrapbook Page

4th of July Fun Scrapbook Page Juliana Michaels Pebbles Americana
I know it's not the 4th of July yet, but as soon as I saw the Americana collection by Pebbles I knew that it would be perfect to scrapbook some photos from last year when we went to visit my BIL and his family in Florida. While we were there we celebrated the 4th with them. This photo is my great niece with my DH and she was all dolled up and ready for some 4th of July fun!

I did a lot of fussy cutting (Pebbles Americana Liberty) to create the flower clusters, but I like how they add a feminine touch to page. The background shape was done on a whim. It was originally a 9x10 piece of paper that I was going to use behind the photo, but it felt so boring, so I cut it into these random geometric shapes. Next, I added some machine stitching to the edges to give it a quilted feel. The funny thing is that after I took the photo and posted it on my blog, I thought it looked kind of like a firework exploding. What do you think?

Hoot! Hoot! Happy Graduation!

Owl Happy Graduation Gift Card Holder by Juliana Michaels for SRM Stickers

It's nearly the end of the school year and I have several family members who will be graduating from high school very soon. I knew that some sort of gift card holder was in store, because what teenager doesn't love a gift card? Right?! Today, I'm up on the SRM Stickers blog with a set of Owl Graduation Gift Card Holders that I made using the SRM new Graduation DIY Kit. I used the Graduation Owl by Lori Whitlock cut file from the Silhouette Online Store to create the owl. It is super easy to make the owl the school colors for your graduate and this adds a little personal touch to the gift box. I'd love for you to stop by the SRM Stickers blog to check out all the details and see the different colors I made.

Hello Butterfly Cards

Butterfly Cards Pebbles Inc Garden Party Collection by Juliana Michaels

Spring is here and with it comes the return of butterflies. One of the few insects that I just love! Today, I have a couple of butterfly cards to share with you using these fabulous 3D butterfly stickers from the Pebbles Inc Garden Party collection.

Hello Butterfly Card Pebbles Inc Garden Party Collection by Juliana Michaels

I just love the fan folded look of these and the wire antenna! So much texture and dimension. To dress them up a little more, I added the Pebbles Basics Glitter Candy Dots. I don't believe these are available anymore, but any bling would work. And if you don't have glittered ones, maybe try adding some with a bit of Ranger Glossy Accents and glitter!

I thought it would be nice to add a sentiment to the inside of the card as well. It is a die cut from the Garden Party Die Cut Cardstock Shapes pack that I trimmed into a banner shape and then layered with a scrap of patterned paper.

I created the floral background behind the butterfly using a couple of die cuts from the Garden Party Die Cut Cardstock Shapes pack as well. I cut them apart and arranged them on the background so that you could still read the "Hello" sentiment and in a way that once the butterfly was positioned on top of them you couldn't see the chop job!

This is another butterfly card I created using the same ideas as I shared above for the butterfly, inside sentiment and floral background behind the butterfly.

BoBunny's Our Lil' Monster Scrapbook Page

Mommy's Little Monster Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels using BoBunny's Our Lil' Monster collection
BoBunny's Our Lil' Monster collection is definitely perfect for all your boy scrapbook pages and projects, but when I first saw it, I knew it would be perfect to scrap some photos of my nieces making their silly, crazy faces. Invariably when I want to take a picture of them, they strike one of these crazy face poses. So, I take what I can get sometimes! By using this collection with my niece's photos, I think it really shows the versatility of this collection.

I also created another scrapbook page - Rawr - with a photo of my other niece with her best monster face and it is up on the BoBunny Blog today, so I hope you hop over and check it out. I'm sure you'll be inspired by the other scrapbook pages you see while you're there that were created by my fellow design team members, Ulrika and Megan!

Look closely here, and you can see that I added glitter glue to the letters on this sticker. I wanted to add a little bling to the layout.

Mommy's Little Monster Scrapbook Page detail by Juliana Michaels using BoBunny's Our Lil' Monster collection
I fussy cut the red monster and yellow monster head from the Our Lil' Monster Adventure patterned paper. I wanted to add a few of the monsters to the layout as embellishments and I had used all of the die cut monsters from the Noteworthy pack on the other layout that I have up on the BoBunny blog today. This was a simple solution and to me there is something enjoyable about fussy cutting paper!

To further embellish the layout, I layered the fussy cut monsters with a monster from the 12x12 Chipboard. I dressed him up with a pair of black jewels for eye balls. The border along the right hand side is a combination of Noteworthy die cuts, 12 x 12 Chipboard and Jewels.

Again, I used the glitter glue on the letters of this chipboard piece to help carry a little sparkle through the page design.

Overall, I really loved working with this collection and I loved that it worked perfectly for photos of little girls. This collection is definitely not just for the boys!

Using Die Cut Papers On Scrapbook Pages

Sometimes it's just fun to play with your stash! With my various design team commitments, it can be difficult for me to find time to do this. Over the past several months, I have been getting together with a friend, who lives close to me, to scrapbook. We try to meet about once a month and I have been trying to make that a day of scrapping non-design team things. A day to play with my stash and just have fun!!!

The scrapbook page I am sharing with you today, using die cut papers and products from the Pink Paislee Hey Kid and My Mind'e Eye Cut and Paste collection, is one of the pages I created during one of the "just for fun" scrapbook days.

I started with the Hey Kid Red Rover Die Cut Paper. I loved the paper, but I wanted to do something different with it, so I fussy cut around the center grouped circles and trimmed off the top and bottom border strips. Next, I cut some of the designs from inside some of the circles using a craft knife. Next, I positioned my "new" die cut piece and the border strips onto a piece of patterned paper from the My Mind'e Eye Cut and Paste collection. I then filled some of the new circle openings with pieces from the Hey Kid Ephemera pack.

It is a subtle change really, but I had fun "playing" with paper because of the fussy cutting and layering. The final steps to completing the layout were to add my photo, embellishments, title and journaling.

Pocket Style Scrapbooking and 3 Birds Studio

Joy Pocket Page Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels using 3 Birds Studio Graceful Season Collection

Pocket Style Scrapbooking has become more and more popular. I have to admit, I was not too keen on the whole thing at first. In fact it has taken me until now to finally create my first pocket style 12 x 12 layout. Seriously, this is my first time!

I have always really enjoyed the process of creating on a 12 x 12 piece of paper, so I didn't see the need or feel the desire to do anything different. However, after having a bunch of photos printed recently, I realized as I was looking through them all, that I didn't really want to scrap them all and create a 12 x 12 page for all of them. Some of the photos just didn't seem to go together enough to all be on one page. That's when the idea of doing a pocket style page came to mind.  I decided to create a regular 12 x 12 page with the photos that were extra special and to then take the rest of them and do a pocket page.

The extra special photos are of my great niece being baptized I they are on a 12 x 12 scrapbook page that is up on the 3 Birds Studio Blog today. I hope you'll take the time to check it out and then you'll be able to see how the two pages coordinate perfectly with the help of the Graceful Season collection!

TIP |  HOW TO USE 3D EMBELLISHMENTS IN POCKET PAGES

I used quite a few of the Graceful Season 3D Embellishment Kit stickers on my pages. They are called 3D for a reason. Most of these stickers have 2-3 layers of double sided foam tape to make them dimensional. When I first put them into the pockets, I didn't like how bulky they were, so I removed them with Undu and then took off the bottom layer of foam tape using Undu again. This made them a lot less bulky. On a couple of the stickers, I also did the same thing on some of the top layers. In the end, all of the stickers ended up with only one layer of the foam tape. This still gives them a little bit of dimension, but they aren't so bulky that they won't fit well into the pockets.

I really do love the way my pocket page turned out and I am hooked on using pocket pages in the future for all of my photos that don't really need their own page. I really like the ease it gives me in keeping these photos together to tell the full story. Yes, these pictures are special too, but it's hard to make a page for every photo and when they don't all seem to fit well together, it is a great way to get them scrapped and into my album. My plan is place the 12 x 12 layout and the pocket page next to each other in my album.

He Has Risen - Happy Easter

He Has Risen card by Juliana Michaels for Elle's Studio April Kit
Happy Easter! Well, almost anyway! I recently created a couple of Easter cards using the Elle's Studio exclusive April Kit and I wanted to share them with you here today. They are both super simple to create. In fact, I have found the Elle's 3x4 and 4x6 die cuts to be perfect for creating cards. I know they are made for the pocket style scrapbooking, but they have become one of my go-to items when want to make a card!

He Has Risen card by Juliana Michaels for Elle's Studio April Kit detail
For the He Has Risen card, I began by layering the 3x4 card with some patterned papers. I then added one of my favorite embellies...Elle's wood veneers and some machine stitching around the outside edge for added interest.

Happy Easter card by Juliana Michaels for Elle's Studio April Kit
The Happy Easter card was created by trimming the Happy Easter 4x6 card to fit on the front of a standard size card base. I then layered some patterned paper scraps from my Elle's scrap draw to create the banners. The final touch was to add a bit of glitter glue to the hearts for a subtle touch of sparkle and shine.

I hope you don't find these card to be too plain and simple. After I finished them, I thought they might be, but I guess that puts them in the clean and simple category and that's not all bad!

Here are some other cards I've made recently using Elle's Studio die cuts if you're looking for more inspiration on how to use them on cards:

3 Dimensional Die Cut Flower Tutorial

3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Happy Monday everyone! Easter is less than a week away, so I thought I would share a quick tutorial with you today on how to create 3 Dimensional Flowers using die cuts that you can use to dress up your Easter decorations or baskets. These flowers are part of a set of Easter Treat Cones that I have up on the Pebbles blog today. You get just a little peek of them here, so I hope you'll stop by the Pebbles blog to check out the full project. For this tutorial and project, I am using products from the Pebbles Garden Party collection.

TUTORIAL | 3 DIMENSIONAL DIE CUT CARDSTOCK FLOWERS

Supplies for 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Gather your supplies: Die cuts, heat gun, water bottle and double sided foam adhesive.

Step 1 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 1.  Lightly mist each die cut shape with water.

Step 2 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 2.  Wrinkle and fold the die cut with your fingers, working to bring the center to a point with the petals folded inward.

Step 3 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 3.  Repeat this on each of the flowers.

Step 4 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 4.  Use a heat gut to dry them. I have also found that this stiffens the paper just a little.

Step 5 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 5.  Adhere a foam dot to the center of the bottom and middle flower layers.

Step 6 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 6.  Position the die cuts from largest on the bottom to smallest on the top, remove the backing from the adhesive and adhere the layers together.

Step 7 - 3 Dimensional Die Cut Cardstock Flowers Tutorial by Juliana Michaels www.17turtles.com
Step 7.  Repeat the layering and use of adhesive foam dots on all of the flowers.

Now your 3D flowers are ready to dress up your Easter Treat Cones. They would make great embellishments for other Easter or Spring related projects such as baskets, home decor items or even cards. This same concept would also work with flower shapes cut out using an electronic cutting machine or metal dies. The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity, so remember to have fun and do something creative like this today!

Elle's Studio and Therm-O-Web Blog Hop

Elle's Studio Wood Veneers and Therm-O-Web Sticky Dots

Happy Friday everyone! You may or may not know this, but Elle's Studio and Therm-O-Web have been teaming up to feature projects created by combining products from both of these amazing companies. I feel very fortunate that I was given the opportunity to be involved in this team up and combine Therm-O-Web adhesives with my favorite Elle's Studio products. I have used Therm-O-Web products in the past, but I have never had the opportunity to use such a wide variety of their products. I was delighted with each one that I used including their Sticky Tab Mini Runner. One of the products that Therm-O-Web sent us to work with that really caught my attention though was their Sticky Dots.

Adhering Elle's Studio Wood Veneers with Therm-O-Web Sticky Dots
I wasn't too sure what to do with them at first, but then I wondered how they'd work to adhere Elle's Studio Wood Veneer. Well, in my opinion, this is a match made in adhesive heaven! All you have to do is lay the wood veneer on the Sticky Dot paper, remove it and then apply it to where ever you want. It sticks wonderfully!

Adhering Elle's Studio Wood Veneers with Therm-O-Web Sticky Dots
In the past, I have used liquid glue to adhere wood veneers and I have always disliked having to worry putting too much glue on it and having it squish out when I stuck it to my project. That worry is gone with Therm-O-Web Sticky Dots! I am a huge fan of these and I plan to use them from now on with all my wood veneers!

This is a peak of them on a scrapbook page I created using Elle's Studio Love You More collection and Therm-O-Web adhesives.
