Howdy Sunshine | Free Cut Files

Happy 4th of July everyone!!! To celebrate this special day, I have a set of FREE cut files to share with you! This set was inspired by our horse Woody, who just recently rejoined our family after our move to Ohio. I had a few photos in my stash that I hadn't scrapped yet and with him arriving I knew I would have more soon, so I wanted to make some images that I could use on some upcoming layouts. However, after I made them I couldn't wait to use them so I created a couple layouts to share with you today.

Howdy Sunshine

Both of the layouts use these cut files and the Pinwheel Collection by Lily Bee. The colors and patterns in this collection seemed perfect to mix with these photos. All of the photos are from about two years ago, but never fear, I have plenty more to scrap.  I just haven't gotten around to scrapping them all just yet!

For my first layout, I wanted a photo of Woody to be the focus, so I cut a couple of horseshoes from kraft cardstock and then used the Howdy and Sunshine title pieces to frame the photo. I then finished it off with some Studio Calico wood veneer stars and Paper Bakery Flair!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Lily Bee; Cardstock: American Crafts and Jillibean Soup; Flair: Paper Bakery; Wood Veneer: Studio Calico; Stickers: Lily Bee

On this second layout I created a frame for my layout by cutting small strips from the red herringbone patterned paper. I then mounted the photos on a piece of yellow Bo Bunny cardstock and added buttons to each corner. I wanted the horseshoe border to have a bit more dimension so I cut it out twice and the layered the two cuts using double sided foam tape.

If you would like to see another way to use these cut files, you can hop over to Katrina Hunt's blog. She used the stars from this set on a fabulous layout that she created for GCD Studios. I really like how her layout shows the versatility of this set of cut files and how they don't have to be used just for horses!!!

I am happy that you stopped by and I hope you enjoy this new set of cut files. I'd love to see what you all are creating with them...you can share them here or on my Facebook page!

  11. Gorgeous Julianna! I just love how you included what a warmup consists of with a horse. I know too many people who just don't warm up and cool down their athletes correctly. It is a shame, too. Horses are such great companions and part of my soul! Two of the greatest horses I ever road were PRCA roping horses. They were amazing athletes and what a treat to be asked by their owner to warm them up and cool them down. He told me it gave them a different outlook on their workouts. He did everything possible to make sure their minds were on something different then roping a calf to keep them fresh and love their job. TFS!
