Happy Halloween | Bo Bunny & A Flower Pot Witch

Happy Halloween!!!  Do you have any fun Halloween plans or have you already done your trick or treating? I have two projects to share with you today.  The first one is a layout I created for Bo Bunny and the second is a flower pot witch!  I am going to start with the layout first. We were asked to create a Halloween layout or project for Bo Bunny and I had been holding onto this particular photo of me to scrap.  I did not have any of Bo Bunny's Halloween collection left from last year, so I knew I was going to have to step outside the box and get creative! The one collection however that I knew I definitely wanted to use was the Enchanted collection.  With its black & white color scheme and distressed and glittered patterns, I knew it would be perfect!  I then dug through my other collections and pulled out colors and patterns that seemed like Halloween to me.  Anything orange, purple, green and black was put into the possibility pile.  I finally settled on what made it onto my layout.

I also loved getting to use the new Bo Bunny Blossoms for the first time!  Aren't they just gorgeous?!  And I love all the colors and styles they come in!!!  Another interesting technique I used to create some of my flower centers was to remove the center of the Serenity Trinkets (it looked like a small jewel) and replaced them with the top of a glitter brad. I simply used wire cutters to remove the prongs on the brad to make it easier to attach them.

I had fun creating the other embellishments for this layout.  I cut the spiders from black cardstock using my Silhouette. I then applied a layer of glossy accents and while it was still wet, I sprinkled a combination of fine and chunky black glitter on them. Once dry, I adhered them to the layout using double sided foam tape for more dimension.

I also added glossy accents to the letters on the title sticker, however this doesn't show up too well in the photos.

If you want to see some more amazing Halloween Bo Bunny projects, make sure you stop by the Bo Bunny blog to see what the other designers created.  You are sure to be inspired!!!

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Bounty/Apple Cider; Enchanted/Enchanted
Cardstock: Dot Journal in Grape and Double Dot in Licorice
Stickers: Follow Your Heart Cardstock Stickers/Enchanted
Chipboard: Enchanted 12 x 12
Blossoms: Plum Purple Bouquet, Plum Purple Daisy
Trinkets: Serenity
Brads: Bo Bunny

And finally, here is the flower pot witch I mentioned!  I created this cute little witch using a variety of Echo Park papers and that large jewel on the front of her dress is a trinket from the Bo Bunny Smoochable collection!  I created her based on a similar project that I created in the past using a small clay flower pot and wooden ball.  You can follow the basic instructions HERE. I simply altered the papers and design a bit to create a witch instead of an angel and here we are...a cute little flower pot witch!

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Halloween Layouts | Echo Park Style

I LOVE Halloween!  I LOVE dressing up for Halloween and last year I got to do just that!!!  And it was at work of all places!  All the gals that I worked with at the time LOVED Halloween so we all dressed up.  It was so much fun!  I had a blast creating my own costume.  I am not sure just what you could call me, but it was fun putting it all together and getting a little crafty in the process. Here are some layouts I created using the Echo Park Chillingsworth collection.  I had a great time playing with the collection.  There are so many fun images and patterns that were just perfect for more adult layouts and projects.

This layout is of one of the gals that I worked with.  She is a little crafty and loves to scrapbook too, so we had to get some photos of the 2 of us to scrap.

I was so thankful for my husband to come and take some photos of us that day for me and her to have for scrapping! By the way...don't you just love the spider web image?! It's a Silhouette image and I used it on two of my layouts. I also used it on the layout I will be sharing with you tomorrow!!!

Here is one final layout, with a photo of all of the gals I worked with dressed up for Halloween! We were quite the crew!!!  For this layout I used a lot of the patterned paper scraps from my other layouts.  I hardly ever cut my papers into these random shapes and sizes when I first start creating with a paper collection.  It's like I am scared to cut the papers or something!  I find it interesting how using those scraps always seems to give my layout such a different feel.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN HUGS!!!

Cocoa Daisy October Kit | Aspen Grove

I just recently purchased my first scrapbooking kit in years and it was from Cocoa Daisy. I must say I was very impressed with the contents!  I liked that you can order just one month.  I would love to have a monthly membership, however it's just not in the budget.  So being able to order one here & there is nice. The trick to this though, is ordering it the day it goes on sale to the public because they tend to sell out very quickly.  I was also lucky enough to be able to order one of the add ons...a set of stamps that I am loving.  In fact, I had fun playing with both sets of stamps.

For this layout, I had fun stamping the tree images with clearing pigment ink, sprinkling it with clear embossing powder and then heat setting it. Do you notice anything about the large mat behind the photo?  It is the bag that held some of the embellishments that came with the kit.  I thought it was a perfect way to frame the photo.  I was also inspired to create this layout using the Cocoa Daisy October layout sketch and the October layout challenge!

I used the same stamping technique on this layout, but you can't really see it too well on the photos.  This layout feels a little plain and blah to me once I saw it posted here.  I may go back and add something to it.  Just not sure what that might be yet!!!

The circle border was actually leftovers from when I cut circle to use on another layout that I will be sharing soon.  I also used them on the layout above and on the card below.  I love to use of my scraps!!!

One thing that was in the kit that I loved were the letter stickers from American Crafts.  (Amy Tangerine Ready Set Go Remarks Letter Stickers).  They are transparent, so you can kind of see through them. I thought it was really cool.

And lastly I made a card.  Again using my scraps!!! The background stamped image (using the washi tape stamps) was created when I was first playing with the stamps. I saved it and here it is!

So do you do kits?  I am pretty sure I will be doing this again some time in the future! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Jillibean Soup & The Bee Keeper

I have two stories to share with you today. The first one is the process of how this layout came to be. Are you ready for the story? It all started with wanting to play with Jillibean Soup. I just got the new collections and they were calling out to me!!! You know exactly what I mean don't you?! I also wanted to play along with the Jillibean Soup October Sketch by Nicole Nowosad. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.  However, I did not have 3 photos. I had 6 photos. Truth be told, I really had 7, but I decided I could tell the story with only 6! So besides the Jillibean Soup I really wanted to scrap these photos and these photos really needed to go with this particular Jillibean Soup paper that I have been hoarding for forever! I also wanted to use the sketch, so I did. I just flipped it around a bit. What do you think? I also had seen this very cool LO by Summer Fullerton on the Jillibean blog recently and I loved her title work. So that inspired how I did mine using my Silhouette and Stencil font. You can check out her layout HERE.

Here is Nicole's sketch:

The next is the story of the photos. One day I was sitting in my scrappy room and I noticed what looked like a bunch of insects flying around a bush in our backyard. Now this bush is probably 30 yards from me. I am not sure what else could be flying around except bees, so I go outside to inspect and lo and behold it is bees and they are obviously making a home in this bush. Here is a close up of them.

I was a little freaked, but after doing some research, I decided to call a local bee keeper to come and relocate the bees. We were able to stand pretty close and watch since the bees were focused on him!  Like he said, "they are going to be mad at me!" since he was the one disturbing them. The bee keeper, Paul, let me take the photos and actually asked that I send him copies of them. When I emailed them to him, he was able to confirm that he had indeed gotten the queen and was able to successfully relocate the new hive. It was a very fascinating process to watch him remove them and catch them. I also learned quite a bit about bees and the how and why they start new colonies.

HAPPY HONEY HUGS!

Bo Bunny October Layout Challenge, Templates & Pie Charts

OK...so today I am sharing the layout I created for the Bo Bunny October Layout Challenge and here it is...

This was the layout challenge:
Use either one or both of these photos as inspiration and then use 2 photos and a tag.

Well...I forgot about using 2 photos and do the banners count as tags?! I must admit, I felt like a dork when I realized how much I goofed things up, but I have a bit of personal stress going on right now and it has distracted me just a tad.  I will share the news with you as soon as I can, but now is not the time.  We have a few more things to line up and out before I announce it here. (And no, it is not a baby, in case some of you that really know me well were wondering!)
So, as you can see, I really went off on a tangent, but sometimes I think that is the idea of these challenges. (Maybe not this far off, but hopefully you understand what I mean! LOL!!!) Challenges should give us a spring board to jump start our creativity as we design our layouts/cards, etc.  I choose the colors, papers and design images specifically because of the two photos we were given.  It looks like a bit of a stretch, but it really was there and I love how things "ended up" when all was said and scrapped!  I also had fun sewing and painting.  By the way, I am totally addicted to The Crafter's Workshop templates right now and I find myself reaching for them a lot lately.  For this one, I just used a light coat of white acrylic paint.  I just wish I could afford to buy all of the templates!!!  I also used my Silhouette to cut the title and the pie chart shapes.  Yeah...I am loving the whole pie chart craze right now!
Well, I hope you will play along with us this month and I look forward to seeing how this challenge inspires you!

Guest Designer | SRM Stickers

Happy Monday all!
I was recently asked to be a guest designer for SRM Stickers and they are featuring me and my projects on their blog today. I was thrilled to have been given this opportunity and I love creating with their stickers. I love how versatile they are and how they seem to add just that perfect little something to so many different types of projects.  I created a card, 2 layouts and a fun little treat container to share.  Oh, and make sure you stop by the SRM blog...they are having a little giveaway over there today! Just saying!!! Wink! Wink!!!

My first project is this layout using SRM Valentines We've Got Your Border stickers.  I adhered the stickers to white cardstock, trimmed around them and then attached them to my layout.

I used the same technique for this card using the Birthday Borders.

For this next layout, I had a little fun combining the SRM Stickers with some mixed media. They adhered wonderfully over the gesso and paint. I used the Life is Good Sticker Sentiments and Express Yourself Everyday Life Stickers.  Did you see that I placed one of them on the photo?!

And last but not least, I have this fun Halloween treat container.  I created a witches broomstick using one of the SRM Magic Wand Tubes.  I covered the "broomstick" using some Halloween Borders and then created a little tag using a sticker from the Halloween Stickers by the Dozen.

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you have any questions about any of these projects please feel free to ask and I will answer them for you!

HAPPY HUGS!
