My sleep schedule has been a little off lately because of our new puppy, so I apologize for the delay in sharing my Stitching with Twine Tutorial. I mentioned it the other day when I first shared my Love Your Smile layout that was part of the Elle's Studio August 2014 Kit Reveal. Trying to write a detailed tutorial just wasn't an option until now. We're really trying to supervise him when he's not in his crate and we aren't putting him in his crate much, so unless he's sleeping, I'm busy with him. Today, I got a nap while he was napping, so I'm feeling a bit more refreshed and ready to blog!
TUTORIAL | STITCHING WITH TWINE ON YOUR SCRAPBOOK PAGE
The tutorial I'm sharing is Stitching with Twine on your scrapbook page. I know this is nothing new, but I wanted to share some a brief tutorial and some tips on how I hand stitch on my layouts.
To start, I used my needle to poke holes where I wanted to run the twine. I choose to add the twine along the edge of the sun rays to help accent the design.
When there was paper to poke, I poked a hole in the paper to run the twine through. These are some of the holes I poked in the center where there was paper to poke. I didn't go all the way to the center because I already knew that my photo would be covering this area and it would save some of my twine.
For the twine that went to the edge of the paper, I simply wrapped the end over the backside of the page and used washi tape to help hold it in place.
The final step was to add my photo and die cut grouping. I preplanned where I wanted to position these on the layout before I added the stitching. Once the stitching was completed, all I had to do was adhere this grouping onto the background and then add the rest of my embellishments.
I hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial on about Stitching With Twine On Your Scrapbook Page! Do you stitch on your pages? Do you hand stitch or use a sewing machine?

Puppies are like babies - sleep becomes very rare! However, puppies grow up faster than babies! Looking forward to seeing new pictures of your little one.
ReplyDeleteI usually stitch by hand as it takes too long to get the sewing machine set up with the right color! Beautiful layout (perfect as usual!!!) Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Elisabeth! He is already growing so fast and you will certainly be seeing more of him here!
DeleteLoved how you did this!!! Gorgeous!!! Thanks for giving the tips!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Julie!
DeleteI love how you used the twine on this fabulous page, Juliana! I like to hand stitch or machine stitch on my pages. They don't usually feel finished unless I've done stitching of some kind. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome page Juliana!! I love stitching, with twine or otherwise .... like Lisa says, my projects don't feel complete without some stitching! (although at the moment my sewing machine doesn't cooperate very well ... )
ReplyDeleteOoooh...I love this simple idea of sewing with twine. It really adds interest to your layout! :)
ReplyDeleteSaw your puppy on Facebook...adorable...Hope he gets adjusted soon and you get more rest...take care Juliana! :)
